The Speedway Show is the brainchild of Tom Newey and Jon Stevens. Both avid collectors of memorabilia for their respective clubs, you can read more about them below.
Tom Newey
Tom’s main area of interest is the Belle Vue Aces, but he also owns extensive collections of Sheffield Tigers, Stoke Potters, Bradford and Halifax Dukes.
Tom is calling on experience from running events as part of his business when planning The Speedway Show.
He said “We can’t wait to get the doors open so that people can see collections, meet riders and buy items with Christmas just around the corner!”
Jon Stevens
Jon’s passion for speedway and its history is immense. Having been privileged to race for the Wimbledon Speedway team. He is the curator of TheDonsDon which is based around elements of Wimbledon Speedway, however his collection goes beyond. With his “London Speedways Roadshow” in association with TheDonsDen. Demonstrates a collection of rivalry and neighbourly clashes with other London clubs.
He also works in collaboration with Wimbledon in Sporting History (WiSH) concerning heritage projects at AFC Wimbledon.
The basis of this show was an idea both Tom and I had about 10 years ago, we aim to work with all parties to bring people together, for this event to give traders, riders and fans a platform where they can meet each other. With the close season upon us, it will be a great opportunity for reflection and looking forward to the forthcoming season.
